Meet Grontmij | Carl Bro A/S in London at the IQPC Conference
Grontmij | Carl Bro A/S, Pavement Consultants will participate in the IQPC's Airport Pavement Management conference, London 25-26 September 2008. Our Technical Manager Hans Christian Korsgaard will together with the Vice President of Project & Development, Billund Airport present a paper about the following project:
Maintaining Operational Efficiency throughout Major New Build Pavement Initiatives with Efficient Planning and Project Management
After 18 months of planning, Billund Airport has recently completed a 3 night long project to rejuvenate its runway. This presentation will examine the planning and execution of the project and analyse the strategy behind key decisions that were taken.
- Taking a holistic and long term approach to pavement management and weighing up the pros and cons of maintenance versus reconstruction strategies
- Examining Billund Airport’s criteria for selecting specific materials for its runway:
- Cost
- Durability
- Time for setting
- Life cycle costing
- Developing strategies to minimise loss of revenues from air traffic during pavement works
- Meeting sustainability objectives during planning for pavement reconstruction to maximise pavement lifecycles and reduce the environmental impact of construction work
- Forming collaborative partnerships between planning and maintenance functions to feed in maintenance and operational objectives into master plans
- Planning for and responding to crisis situations during pavement projects
