Bearing capacity measurements Reasons for conducting bearing capacity measurements are to determin whether a road need reinforcement, whether there are problems further down in the pavement structure layers. Bearing capacity measurements are also applied in connection with traffic infrastructure planning and strategies, such as rerouting of traffic arteries. On the basis of the analysis results pavement layer thickneses can be calculated and whether reinforcement  or other measures are required on the entire section or only part of the road section.
